Alex Song says Olympique Lyonnais' success in last season's Champions League highlights the progression of the French league in recent years.
The Ligue 1 side defeated Liverpool and Real Madrid en route to the Semi-Final last season and Song says that success emphasises the progression of domestic football in France over recent seasons.
"Last season we saw Olympique Lyonnais reaching the Semi-Final of the Champions League, which is very good for French football," he said.
"That was the first time in a long while that a French team had reached so far in the Champions League, which just shows the recent progression of the French league.
"Although Arsenal aren't playing against Olympique Lyonnais, we're all looking forward to seeing them at Emirates Stadium.
"Olympique Lyonnais have one of the best teams in France and proved what a good team they are with their performances in last season's Champions League. I'm looking forward to watching how Olympique Lyonnais play against AC Milan and Celtic.
"Of course, we're looking forward to playing AC Milan and Celtic at the Emirates Cup. Everyone knows Milan - they're a big club and a great side. Celtic as well - I think it will be a very good challenge for us in front of a big crowd."
The midfielder believes this year's line up of sides at the tournament is as strong as ever and says the competition is a perfect curtain-raiser for the new season.
"The Emirates Cup is always a very strong tournament," he said. "This year is no different with Olympique Lyonnais, AC Milan and Celtic taking part.
"When you play the Emirates Cup you just want to win because we're at home, and it's the best way to start the season.
"We are playing against very good teams and the matches will be very competitive, playing in front of many supporters at Emirates Stadium."
All tickets for Day One of the Emirates Cup are now sold out. However, you can still purchase tickets for Day Two, which sees AC Milan take on Olympique Lyonnais before Arsenal face Celtic. Click here for more information.
