Arsène Wenger has refused to rule out signing Fulham defender Chris Smalling.
However, the Arsenal manager insists that there is no truth in reports linking the 20-year-old with an immediate move to Emirates Stadium.
The London-born defender joined Fulham from non-league side Maidstone United in June 2008 and made his first-team debut against Everton at the end of last season.
Smalling has been capped three times by England Under-21s and has made four appearances for Fulham so far this term.
Recent media reports have suggested that Wenger is interested in bringing the defender to Arsenal. But the manager says there is no truth behind the speculation, though that may change in the future.
"He is a player we know," confirmed the Frenchman. "But there is no truth in it at the moment.
"Maybe in the future. 'At the moment' is at the moment. [But] I never rule anything out."
