Arsène Wenger is convinced that Carl Jenkinson will play international football soon.
The Arsenal defender has a British father and a Finnish mother and is therefore eligible for either country. He trained with the England squad at London Colney ahead of their World Cup qualifier in Poland and manager Roy Hodgson has hinted that he may call up Jenkinson for next month's friendly against Sweden.
Jenkinson has yet to decide which country to represent but, whatever his choice, his club manager is tipping him to step up to a new level before long.
"I think it’s a bit early, but I am sure he will be there," said Wenger.
"He has developed extremely well. In his head, I like the way he sees things - first to establish yourself completely as a player in your club. Once you’re completely established, go for internationals.
"But you cannot always decide that when you’re a young player. Everybody who is 20 would love to be called by England."
