Olivier Giroud admits that Laurent Koscielny has been integral in helping him to settle at Arsenal and into English life.

The France international joined the Club from French champions Montpellier this summer, and has made a positive impression in his three appearances so far.

The 25-year-old played with Koscielny at French club Tours during the 2008/09 season, and he is thankful to have his friend alongside him once again.

"It’s important for me to have Laurent in the team because it’s easy for me to integrate and to speak with other players," Giroud told Arsenal Player.

"I’ve known him for four years. We played together for Tours in Ligue 2 and I spent my time with him and another friend of ours. We played a very good season and we were not far away from being promoted to Ligue 1. It was unbelievable for Tours.

"He’s a very good player. I had a good time with him on and off the pitch and I’m very happy to join him at Arsenal. It’s a nice story for us."

Giroud admits that Koscielny has also been key to helping him acclimatise to life in a new country.

"Sometimes we go to a French restaurant together," he said. "It’s very good, very nice, the French food. English food? Not so bad.

"Sometimes we go out with our wives. I like spending time with him."
