on what winning the first WSL trophy means to the team...
On a personal note it is the biggest moment in my career, without a doubt. The girls have been here a long time and this title means so much to them because the league is so competitive.

on the team’s performance against Liverpool...
We knew it would be tough on Sunday, and I am pleased to have got through it with three points. Other teams might have crumbled under the pressure of Liverpool getting a goal back but we showed our character once again and stayed strong. But it wasn’t the best performance overall, and the girls were getting frustrated with themselves, but in a game like today it was all about the points - nothing more - and we managed it.

on Rachel Yankey’s two-goal cameo...
I was really pleased with Rachel Yankey, she took the game by the scruff of the neck which was just what we needed. Her first goal was fantastic, and the second one was a great finish so I was delighted for her.

on the club’s first WSL season...
The start of the new league and the new format has meant we’ve been pushed all the way and credit must go to Birmingham, Everton and all the teams in the league who have really raised the standard in women’s football. It’s been a nail-biting season and a tough one. It’s been enjoyable at times but heart-wrenching at others. But today has topped it all off.

on those who say Arsenal Ladies are weaker...
People can say Birmingham deserved to win the league but the reality is we’re the ones with the trophy and no one can take that away from us. The other teams in the WSL have been great this season and deserve huge credit but once again Arsenal have finished top of the pile. We have won the WSL in its first season along with the FA Cup and got to the Champions League Semi-Final and yet people say Arsenal are not as good as they used to be.

on the team singing ‘We Won The League on Merseyside’...
It’s a bit about fate really. Two years ago we were at Everton and we had to win 1-0 to win the league and the treble. It was a song we took on from there. Liverpool always seems to have something to do with us because we always seem to have to come to Merseyside and beat either Everton or Liverpool to win the league. It’s a special place for us and it’s happened again.

on the next target for the Club...
The Club is always pushing and wanting to be the best. We have now put ourselves in a position where we are pushing for a treble. It’s a good opportunity for us to look at everyone within the squad and if we can maybe rest a few in the process. But we want to go and win the Continental Cup and finish this season on another high before moving onto the challenge of the Champions League.
