Gael Clichy believes an improvement in defence can help Arsenal going forward this season.
The Gunners conceded 41 Premier League goals last term, something Arsène Wenger has openly targeted for improvement.
But Clichy believes that progression at the back will also help Arsenal going forward and he expects Wenger will bring in only the best players to improve the side.
"The boss is clever enough to bring in players who will add some more to the team," he said in an exclusive interview with Arsenal.com.
"Of course we can always improve and that's what we want to do. As a unit, as a team, we want to be better defensively, and we know that if we defend well we'll attack better.
"We have to work, we still have a few weeks ahead of us to improve and we will see when the season starts. Like I said the feeling is good and I really hope we can do something this year."
