Arsène Wenger had a word with Emmanuel Frimpong after the Manchester City game - but only about the winning goal.

The tenacious teenager caught the eye at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night as Arsenal had the better of their Quarter-Final tie only to succumb to a late goal on the break from Sergio Aguero.

The following morning's headlines focused on a reported clash between Frimpong and former Gunner Samir Nasri and Wenger was asked on Friday whether he raised the issue with his young midfielder.

"I had more than one word with him but not about what happened [with Nasri]," replied the manager.

"They were more about the goal we conceded. Overall I don't know what happened with him and Nasri - nobody spoke about that inside the Club."

Frimpong did his prospects of another first-team start no harm with a solid display against City and Wenger believes he's not the only one.

"Frimpong and Coquelin were already involved and I rotate them a little bit," he said. "Players like Oxlade-Chamberlain have made progress and are closer now to being selected to be in the squad."
