Arsène Wenger will sit down with Bert van Marwijk to discuss Robin van Persie’s involvement with the Dutch national squad next week.
Holland face Turkey in a friendly on Wednesday and their coach has expressed his desire to call up the Arsenal striker even though he has played less than a half of football since August.
Van Persie returned from an ankle injury when he came on as a 57th-minute substitute against Newcastle last Sunday and is still clearly some way from full fitness. Though admitting valuable game time would aid his recovery, Wenger is wary of rushing him back too soon.
“We will sit down with Robin and the Dutch manager to sort that out,” he said.
“On one side this situation was completely surreal 10 or 12 days ago. Now he is still not completely there but if he can get 45 minutes and we can find an agreement on that it would be good for him to get some competition.
“We have to see how he gets through the weekend and after we will decide that.”
