Arsène Wenger does not believe Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie will be fit in time to face Liverpool - but he will assess the pair on Friday.
Arsenal's two World Cup finalists returned to training last week but did not feature in the weekend's friendly against Legia Warsaw.
Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has only selected one World Cup star for a friendly against Ukraine on Wednesday, so Van Persie gets a reprieve from the international break. But Fabregas will travel to Mexico with Spain.
"They are a lot behind," said Wenger.
"Cesc goes to Mexico so he will not be able to practice. I will have to see how both are on Friday. But they are both short.
"Cesc comes back on Thursday night or Friday, so we’ll have to see. I hope Van Persie will have a good week of preparation, but I think he will be short as well."Copyright 2016 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
