Arsène Wenger has not pursued a claim for compensation in the wake of Thomas Vermaelen's extended lay-off.
The Belgian centre back returned from a Euro 2012 qualifier in Turkey in September with an Achilles complaint. At the time he was expected to return to action within a week but Vermaelen has not played since.
Wenger told Arsenal TV Online on Wednesday that the 25-year-old is not likely to play before the end of January and, at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, the manager was asked if he would seek damages from the Belgian FA.
"We have not asked for it," replied Wenger.
"The simple reason is that at first it was three or four days and now it is three or four months. It was an official game in Turkey so I don’t know if we have a chance to do that [seek compensation]."Copyright 2017 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
