Arsène Wenger steers clear of clauses that entitle managers to a cut of the transfer fee when their players are sold.
It emerged this week that Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has a ‘commission’ clause written into his contract as his club was forced to rubbish claims that it is complicating the proposed transfer of Charlie Adam.
Wenger does not have a similar arrangement at Arsenal and he explained why when he faced reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“That is down to the chairman and to the board to decide that,” said the Frenchman.
“Personally I am not in favour of it, but if the chairman wants that and if the club agrees with that [then it’s fine].
“I personally always tried to keep my contracts not involved in this kind of clauses because it can be misinterpreted and I never wanted that.”Copyright 2016 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
