Benik Afobe admits he is “loving every minute” of his stay in the Far East - and hopes to use the time to stake a claim for first-team football.

The 19-year-old is with Arsène Wenger’s squad in Malaysia as part of Arsenal’s 2012 Tour, presented by Emirates, and has been overwhelmed by the reaction of the fans.

Now he wants to show them what he can do on the pitch when the visitors take on a Malaysia XI.

“I'm loving every minute of it, coming out to the Far East is not an everyday thing,” Afobe told Arsenal.com.

“It is my first time in the Far East and the boys were telling me beforehand that the fans are unbelievable and so loud.

“I thought, 'Nah, it can't be anything I haven't heard before' but it is amazing. It makes you realise how huge Arsenal Football Club is when you come out to somewhere like Asia and the fans all love you.

“There are only two out-and-out recognised centre forwards on the trip [himself and Marouane Chamakh] so it is an opportunity for me. I will just train hard and do my best, and hopefully this will be a good experience for me.”
