He's just 39 and he won SIX trophies in his first year in charge of Barcelona. No wonder Pep Guardiola is so highly-regarded by his most respected peers.
Arsène Wenger was the latest to wax lyrical about Guardiola as he prepared to pit his wits against the former Spanish international in the Champions League Quarter-Finals. The Arsenal manager suggested that his opposite number has "started his career with dessert" because he has tasted so much glory so soon.
The Barca coach will certainly find it hard to maintain the sweet success he has enjoyed in his first 18 months at the Nou Camp but, according to Wenger, he has already proved himself to be a big talent in the technical area.
"He has done an exceptional job - he has started his career with the dessert!" said Wenger with a smile.
"Now he needs in the next 20 seasons to win every year the Spanish League, the Champions League, and the Spanish Cup. That will of course be difficult.
"But it is fantastic what he has done, and that is important when you are a young coach because it gives you confidence and belief that you have the qualities."Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
