Arsène Wenger believes there is only one reason for Arsenal’s recent distribution of goals - confidence.

Kieran Gibbs became the 17th player to find the net for Wenger’s side in the Premier League this season when he scored against Aston Villa last weekend, and it's a figure that no other top-flight side can match.

Wenger admits that Arsenal have relied on Robin van Persie for much of the campaign but says their recent run of form has brought out the best from others at the sharp end of the pitch.

“I don't deny that we rely a lot on Robin van Persie but it is good to see [that we have contributions from elsewhere],” he told Arsenal Player.

“It shows you that when the confidence of the team is a little bit higher, suddenly the goals can come from different people. There is more initiative and that is very positive for us because for long parts of the season it is true that we were too dependent on Robin's goals.

“The fact that goals now come from everywhere is certainly just a result of a bigger confidence level in the team.”
