Gael Clichy has been named in an Arsenal squad for the first time since the North London derby on October 31.
Speaking to TV Online on Wednesday, Arsène Wenger confirmed, as expected, that Cesc Fabregas would return after recovering from the hamstring injury he collected against Villa on December 27.
However the manager was more cautious about Clichy, who had been suffering from a back problem since the 3-0 against Tottenham ten weeks ago.
At Friday’s press conference, Wenger confirmed that Clichy would travel and did not rule out him starting.
“Cesc is back in the squad for Sunday and Gael is back as well,” said the manager. “He will be minimum on the bench.
“It's good to have him. With Gael we were uncertain for a while how long he would be out whereas Cesc we knew was short-term.”
However the wait goes on for Theo Walcott and his rib injury.
“He is not back yet,” said Wenger. “I believe we have to be patient for one or two more weeks, not more.”
