Robin van Persie has hailed the “absolutely unbelievable” Yossi Benayoun after the Israeli’s late goal secured victory for Arsenal at Villa Park on Wednesday.

With the Gunners seemingly heading for a share of the spoils against Aston Villa, Benayoun stepped off the bench to head home an 87th-minute winner from Van Persie’s corner.

The Dutchman was delighted to see Benayoun reap his reward for some impressive recent performances.

“It was really good for Yossi scoring because he has been training unbelievably - trust me, he is absolutely unbelievable,” Van Persie said.

“Everyone was hoping for him to have a chance and he took it, so we are all really pleased for him”
