Arsenal midfielder Rachel Yankey's goal helped England to their first victory over the United States for 22 years on Saturday.
Hope Powell's side were already a goal to the good when Yankey, England's second most capped player, rifled in a wonderful second against the two-time world champions at the Matchroom Stadium.
Kelly Smith broke forward through the middle and laid the ball out to the left where her former Arsenal colleague was waiting, unmarked. Yankey took a touch to compose herself and gave goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart no chance by drilling an angled drive into the top corner.
The US did pull a goal back but England held on to record a confidence-boosting 2-1 win just under three months before the start of the FIFA Women's World Cup.
Faye White and Ellen White also featured while Steph Houghton was an unused substitute.
