On Monday 11th April Faye and Ellen were invited along with team and staff members of each of the eight teams in the new FA WSL for the official launch day.

In a move to professionalise women's football and attract girls and fans to the game, The Football Association announced today the launch of the first-ever semi professional league for women.

The FA WSL (Women's Super League) will be played during the summer months and features eight teams from across the country competing for the inaugural Super League title.

Chelsea Ladies will take on Arsenal Ladies in the first ever WSL fixture. The kick off match will take place on Wednesday 13th April at 5.30pm at Tooting and Mitcham FC's ground on and will be televised live on ESPN. Tickets for the launch match are available to fans to purchase from: www.chelsea.fawsl.com/tickets.html

England and Arsenal Captain Faye White was excited for the new league:

"I really can't wait for the new league to launch, it seems like we've been talking about it for some time and now it's really upon us. This is a huge moment for women's football here and all the players are excited for what lies ahead. This will really push the game on and hopefully inspire the next generation of players to follow in our footsteps. I've seen the game develop so much since I first started playing, we've made huge strides in putting things in place to ensure the game thrives and this new league will really help us push that forward and take the game to the next level, it's a massive moment for everyone involved in woman's football."
