Umeå IK 0-1 Arsenal
UEFA Women's Cup Final 1st Leg Gammliavallen Saturday, April 21. 2pmon the performance...
"It was a great team performance. Our defensive backline
played a superb first half against the wind. Obviously it's a
game of two halves and the team with the wind had the advantage
each half. We stuck together, the first 20 minutes we were a bit
dodgy, all over the place, but got our shape sorted and worked hard
from there and got the result we craved for at the end of the
day."
on Alex Scott's last-gasp winner...
"It took a while to sink I think that she'd found the back
of the net but it was a great strike. We all know Alex has the
ability to do that in every game but today it's even more
important than a usual game."
on Umea star Marta...
"She did me like a kipper once or twice which I didn't
particularly enjoy but like I said yesterday they've got world
class players and we were aware of that. But our girls are coming
through on to the world stage now and they did a great job and they
proved what they can do."
on the second leg at Boreham Wood...
"Hopefully we'll pack it out there. We're looking
forward to going back to our home ground - we like playing there
it's comfortable so it should make for a good second
game."
on raising Arsenal's standing in the
game...
"We're trying to prove a point to everyone out there
really, we have world class players. We haven't proved it in
the past but each year we've played in this competition
we've learnt and we've definitely got the experience to go
one better and hopefully lift the trophy."
