Ladies hold training camp for youngsters
Arsenal Ladies at Musashigaoka College
Arsenal Ladies headed to the Musashigaoka College in Saitama on Saturday morning to hold training sessions for 65 elite youngsters.
The treble winning squad and coaching staff took to the college sports fields to oversee a number of sessions for a select group of talented teenagers. With rain lashing down, England, Scotland, Wales and Republic of Ireland internationals taught drills and oversaw small-sided matches.
The team then presented the youngsters with certificates, signed by the whole squad, and manager Laura Harvey gave a talk to explain what it took to get to the top of the women’s game.
England and Arsenal captain Faye White took a group of talented youngsters for a special elite session, and was impressed by what she saw:
“We drilled a group of 12-18 year olds and the level they were at technically at their age was very impressive indeed. The ethos here is to focus on technique, and quick passing and movement. It’s obviously paying off at the top level already – with the World Cup win – and the quality on show on Saturday was very high.”
