Arsenal Ladies sealed a domestic double after defeating Birmingham City Ladies 1-0 in Wednesday's Continental Cup final at Underhill. After the game, a number of Laura Harvey's players spoke to Arsenal.com.
We’ve gone unbeaten in the league and were really disappointed not to get to the FA Cup final. To win this makes up for that and we’ve won another double. We’re really pleased to have done it.
I think both as a team and personally, improvements can still be made. It was good to dominate the game today and win, but I think as a team we can definitely progress.
I’m normally right footed but I like to use my left occasionally. It’s great to score the winning goal in a cup final and for us to win was fantastic.
Every season our aim is to win everything. That’s why we’re at a club like Arsenal. The next step for us is the Champions League and we want to be successful in that while keeping up our domestic stance up. We’ve won the league for the last nine years and we want to keep that up, and continue to be successful in the cups.
It was frustrating not to be involved. Everyone wants to be a part of it, but for the girls to go out there and put on the performance they did to help us retain the trophy we won last year is excellent.
Some games aren’t always so pretty. I’m sure tonight wasn’t the best we’ve ever played but we dug in and got the goal we needed.
I had total faith in all the girls today. We’re a team and I’m really proud of the girls. I’m really happy for Kim as well because she scored a great goal.
I’m really glad to win it again, for the second year in a row. We’ve happy to have done the double.
We’ve been really strong, and we’re still in the Champions League so we have that look to forward to now.
Finishing the season unbeaten was massive. It’s incredible to go unbeaten. I’m still young so hopefully there will be many more seasons where I can be a part of a team that achieves that.Copyright 2015 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
