Kelly Smith will miss both legs of the Women’s Champions League quarter-final with Swedish side Gothenburg due to an injury sustained to her left ankle.

The forward, who rejoined Arsenal Ladies last Friday from US side Boston Breakers, suffered the knock during England’s 3-0 defeat by France in the Cyprus Cup on Sunday, March 4.

The full extent of the injury was discovered when Smith saw the Arsenal medical team on her return from the tournament and underwent an x-ray on her ankle.

The Club’s medical team is working with Kelly to bring her back to full fitness as soon as possible and Arsenal Ladies hope to see her return to action within a month.
