Arsenal Ladies can today confirm that Katie Chapman is leaving the Club in February to join US side Chicago Red Stars, in line with start of the second Women’s Professional Soccer league in April 2010.
Chapman (27) first featured for Arsenal Ladies in three years ago in 2006, joining the Gunners from Charlton Athletic. The sturdy midfielder has made 103 appearances for the Arsenal Ladies and scored 43 goals in all competitions. Unsurprisingly, Katie is also an integral part of the national set up with 73 caps to her name for England and seven goals for the Lions.
Katie has won eight major honours with Arsenal Ladies and netted the first goal of the May 2009 Women’s FA Cup Final which led the Gunners to a 2-1 win over Sunderland Ladies.
Katie will continue playing for Arsenal Ladies until mid-February, before moving to Chicago.
Everyone at Arsenal Football Club wishes Katie the best of luck for her future with Chicago Red Stars and would like to thank her for her huge contribution towards Arsenal Ladies over the past three years.
