ARSENAL LADIES

Hertsmere Indoor Primary School Festival

Hertsmere Indoor Primary School Festival

On Monday 1st February eighty girls from four Borehamwood and four Potters Bar Schools took part in Arsenal Ladies’ Annual Indoor 7-a-side Football Festival.

Over the last two years Arsenal have ran separate festivals in each area but this time 4 schools from each area got the privilege of visiting and playing in the prestigious Indoor Centre at Arsenal’s Training Ground.

Oakmere Primary School triumph
The two and a half hour festival was for girls from years 5 & 6 and Oakmere Primary school from Potters Bar triumphed on the day after winning all of their 5 games, with Pope Paul Catholic Primary came in a close second.  8 teams took part including Saffron Green,  Cowley Hill, Kenilworth and St Teresa’s from Borehamwood and Ladbrooke and St Giles from Potters Bar.

The festivals main objective was to provide girls in primary schools an increased chance to play organised matches and has followed on from the schools programme that Arsenal have been delivering to the local schools over the last 2 years.  At the end of the festival all the girls returned home with certificates and souvenirs for their efforts for taking part on the day.

Due to its success the Annual Festival will now become a regular event for the Primary schools, involved in the Hertsmere partnership, to work towards and look forward to.

Well done to all that took part!
