On what pleased her about the performance…
Not conceding was good and the fact that we didn’t stop was pleasing. When you’re four goals to the good at half time you can sometimes let off and considering the fact we haven’t had many competitive games it was good that we made the most of the 90 minutes.

On how easy it was to motivate her players…
The first leg was tough because of the fact [that we haven’t had much competitive football]. Getting used to the tempo and the way we want to try and play is tough but it was much more pleasing today with the performance we put on and also the result. We like playing here [at Boreham Wood] on a nice pitch - it suits us and we like to get the ball down and keep it moving if we can.

On the lack of games the team is playing…
It’s been tough. To come and play at the standard required in the Champions League is hard because you haven’t got that consistency that you would normally have at this stage of the season. It is tough, tougher that we expected to be honest. It’s hard for the players because they want to do lots in training because they’re not playing games. But then if you do too much training when it comes to the game you’re not firing on all cylinders.

On whether that will be a problem for the next round…
We will try and get as many games as possible in between now and then. England go away [for some international fixtures] so for those players it will be good for them to play and will probably do us a bit of a favour. For those of us who aren’t with England, we’re going to try and get as many friendlies as we possibly can and make it as competitive as possible so it’s not just training all the time. Hopefully then we will be at the right level we need to be to play against the Spanish team.

On how the new players have integrated…
I was very pleased. The fact is that we’ve bought in quality so that means it tends to be a little bit easier for them to fit in. They are both ambitious players and want to achieve things. I think you can see that in how they play. I was very pleased with them.

On competition for places…
I’ve said it before that this is the most competition for places we’ve had for a while. If you look at the bench it’s exciting. Starting XI’s can be different week in week out and I wouldn’t say I could put my finger on my strongest team. I think you saw today with the three changes we made that it didn’t make a massive difference to what we were trying to do. No matter who comes into the side they keep the way we want to play and keep the level as high as possible.
