on the performance…
I thought we were poor in the first half. In the second half we got a little bit better but there was probably some good fortune along the way. If Kate Longhurst had scored when they were 2-1 up if could have gone away from us. But I thought Kelly [Smith] did really well when she came on and her two goals changed the game.

on Kelly Smith
I wondered whether to start her or not but after the team's performance against Birmingham I didn't feel she was ready for 90 minutes yet so I brought her off the bench. But again she has proven here what a top-class player she is. I am pleased for her and I am pleased for the girls because after the Birmingham game it would have been a real shame from our point of view to have let us go without three points. Kelly has just proved why we worked really hard to sign her.

on a healthy lead in the WSL...

The Birmingham game set us up for a big gap in the league. It's now eight points and that was what tonight was all about. We have played Chelsea four times now this season so we know a lot about each other. We knew it was going to be tough because they have had it hard over the last couple of weeks. But they showed their togetherness I thought and it was probably their best performance against us. But in the second half we just dug in and a little bit of brilliance has won us the game.

on a lack of clean sheet…
It is something we have really got to work on. We need the break really because we start so much earlier than everybody else with the Champions League and at this time of the year you see it. Sometimes there is a little bit of tiredness creeping in. We are together so much that we never have a break from each other, so it will be nice to do that for a little bit.
