Fabio Capello invited WSL players to London Colney.
Players from The FA WSL, the new summer elite league for women's football which launches this April, were invited to London Colney today to meet with England Manager Fabio Capello and the England Men's senior squad.
Ahead of their first training session in the build up to the Wales game on Saturday, England players posed for photos and mixed with WSL stars such as Arsenal and England captain Faye White, Birmingham City Ladies' Karen Carney and Bristol Academy's Anouk Hoogendijk.
White, who will lead her Arsenal team out for the first ever WSL match on Wednesday 13 April, believes the support of the men's team is good for the game.
She said: "We've always enjoyed the support from the men's senior squad, both at Arsenal and at international level. It's nice to be invited down to training by the England Manager, and watch the players in action.
"The new league is extremely important to raising the profile of the women's game and it's great to count on support from people across football, especially from the likes of Fabio Capello and his England squad."
The new semi-professional League, the top tier of women's football, comprises eight clubs and will be played during the summer, showcasing England's best players. The new League will also see games regularly televised live alongside a weekly highlights package through broadcast partner ESPN.
The FA believes the WSL will be the key platform to drive the women's game forward in England. The WSL concept was developed to enable players in this country to earn a good living from the game whilst allowing the clubs to develop new revenue streams and support for women's football.
With participation levels of women's football at an all time high, The FA WSL will play a pivotal role in ensuring the player pathway leads to a competitive, elite structure at the very top of the women's game.
The FA WSL kicks off live on ESPN with Chelsea Ladies against Arsenal Ladies at 5.30pm on 13 April at Tooting and Mitcham FC. Tickets are available from the Chelsea website.
