on being knocked out of the Champions League…
I’m disappointed. In the first half, similarly to the first leg, you can’t allow Lyon the chances we allowed them. We got through the first ten minutes and had a great chance within the first 30 seconds of the game, if that goes in then the game could have been different. But once they scored, their tails are up and they have a little bit more confidence. You can see they are a good side and, over the two legs, you can see they are a better team than us. We have got to work out what we can do to be better.

on a better second-half performance…
I think the positives from the game are that a lot of teams and a lot of players would have crumbled at 3-0 down at half time and given up. I said to them at half time, we either do that or go out and give everything we have got. That’s why the [Arsenal players] are who they are and have achieved what they have, because they have got that mentality. We can only be pleased with what we did, keeping Lyon out and getting two goals against them.

on looking ahead to next year…
This group of players are a group of winners and that is why Saturday hurt even more, because we haven’t been able to come back and push when we had a great chance to do that. We have got to regroup and in seven days time we play in a game that decides whether we are in this competition against next year [the FA Women’s Cup Semi-Final]. That has to be our focus, to get back here again.

on whether getting to the Semi-Finals is a fair reflection of where Arsenal are in Europe…
I would say so, yes. Lyon and the two German teams have got that little bit extra, they have what we are looking for. That can only come with time because we are a developing squad, we’ve got a lot of young players. If you look at the Lyon team and look at the two German teams, they are packed full of experience. I think, over two legs, that showed.

on how Arsenal can bridge the gap to Europe’s best...
We have to get on the ball more, they are full time. We have now got to do as much as we can to get our players on the ball as much as possible. You can’t vouch for training everyday and getting on the ball everyday. If we can try and do that as much as possible I think we will become better. We have improved since last year but we have got to keep doing that and that has to be our focus for the next 12 months.
