on how she feels after back-to-back WSL titles:
I’m really pleased. I didn’t think we played that well today but we got the three points which was the most important thing. I’m really pleased for the players, all the staff, and everyone who works behind the scenes at the club. They make us what we are, and that is once again a title-winning team.
on winning the league before facing Birmingham:
Last year it went down to the last game, and nerves can play a part. The biggest difference this year was the number of fixtures we had around that last game which was always going to make it harder. This game was always going to be tough because we’ve had Champions League matches either side of it. The fact we’ve been able to do it today is fantastic.
on winning the league in front of the home fans:
The fans have played a massive role. They’re so supportive. We had quite a few come to Barcelona away this week. They follow us wherever we go really. To do it [win the league] in front of everyone here was a great feeling and something that we hoped to do. We’re so glad we’ve ended up doing it.
on fixture congestion helping to build momentum:
A little bit, yes. We talk so much about how we’ve got a really strong squad, and we’ve been able to utilise that in the last couple of weeks. We’ll continue to do that for the last three games.
on whether she will let the team celebrate:
Yes! They’ll have a bit of a celebration but then it’s back to business. The fact the Barcelona game is on Thursday helps a little bit because we get that extra day break. They’re professional - I’m sure they’ll celebrate but it’s back to business tomorrow.
on sustained success:
My team are winners. It’s not really about me. It’s something that is generated throughout the whole club and through Vic Akers’ era. It’s just the club as a whole. When people come into it, it’s what they have to buy into. You’re either a winner or you leave. That’s been one of the biggest differences for us this year. The younger ones are starting to really grasp that and they’ve pushed onto the older ones - the future is bright.
