Stand and deliver

Stateside Gooner

By Chris Toronyi

One team and two cups. And a league. That's what we supporters of The Arsenal get to enjoy (or not) over a seven day period. Can it seriously get better than this? It's what every supporter could ask for and more. And not just in the sport of soccer or football, but across all world sports.

We play Blackburn at home in the FA Cup which is sure to be electric and then follow that match-up with a seriously tasty game against German giants, Bayern Munich. That'll take some years off one's life.

After recovering from those epic battles, we end the week with a simple home league game against Aston Villa. I kid. I'm sure it will be just as nervy and tasty as the other two games as Villa have nothing to lose and we can't afford to drop points. We're in the business end of the season, so let's act like it. Deliver.

I guess what I'm saying it's easy to become complacent, or caught up in criticism of the Club and forget how amazing it is to be supporter of Arsenal. I'm not here trying to paint over the cracks or mask issues in the game, but to ask that we all take a collective breath and look at what's ahead for us and the Club. Let's be positive. Be forward thinking. And keep our nerves to a minimum.

And one more thing before I sign-off this week. As many of us have experienced first-hand, the Gooner family is a great, amazing community. So many are willing to help another out. I just want to publicly say thank you to Christian Sweeney, who recently helped out a good friend of mine who is visiting London next week. If other fellow Gooners would like to help pay it forward, Christian is set to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for charity while wearing Arsenal colors. Check his Twitter timeline for information. Many thanks.

Thanks for reading and thanks for listening.
