Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Nick Kenton as the new Meetings & Events Manager for Emirates Stadium Events.
Kenton has been promoted from his previous role as Senior Sales Manager and continues in his capacity as a key figure in organising the extensive range of Meeting and Events facilities available at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
Nick joined the Emirates Stadium Events team in November 2005 from his previous position in the Meetings & Events team at Chelsea Football Club. One of Kenton’s first responsibilities at Arsenal was to work in the sales teams for the premium Club Level Seats, preparing for Arsenal’s move from Highbury to the 60,000 capacity Emirates Stadium.
Kenton’s rise through the ranks at the Emirates Stadium Events team was brisk and within two years he had moved from Account Manager to Senior Sales Manager, overseeing a growth in the events business at Emirates Stadium every year since its opening in July 2006.
The 60,000 seat state-of-the-art Emirates Stadium has two premium hospitality levels which provide over 7,000 supporters with access to a range of bars and restaurants on a matchday. The facilities are utilised on non-matchday days for corporate and private events for up to 2,000 in a single suite.
Kenton is part of the 12 strong team working at Emirates Stadium Events, led by Head of Hospitality, Russell Bodycomb. Between June 2008 and May 2009, the team helped deliver over 350 external events at the stadium, in addition to 200 events for Arsenal Football Club. The wide variety of events hosted at Emirates Stadium over the past year have ranged from Law examinations to the hosting of auditions for the popular X Factor TV show.
In March 2008, Emirates Stadium truly proved its worth as a multi-functional event location, when it hosted the historic Anglo-French summit between Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy. The day included a conference for 200 media and cabinet ministers, with Brown and Sarkozy, enjoying a working lunch in the exclusive Diamond Club where they sampled some of the first class cuisine on offer at Emirates Stadium, cooked by the Michelin Starred and Diamond Executive Chef, Raymond Blanc.
New Meetings & Events Manager Nick Kenton said: “I’m delighted to be taking on my new role at Emirates Stadium Events. Emirates Stadium is an iconic venue and offers a unique experience to event organisers and their clients. The stadium is still new and offers a very different proposition from the perceptions some clients may have of stadia, as it offers world class catering and flexible space to match the most demanding of events. “I’m really looking forward to helping to develop the meetings and events sector here at Emirates Stadium, and this role offers a really exciting challenge for me.”
Since opening in July 2006, Emirates Stadium has won many awards for its construction process, regeneration and its Meetings and Events offering, including: 2007 ‘Visit London’ – Business Venue of The Year and 2008 ‘Meet England’ – Business Tourism Gold Award.
Nick, who was also elected a board member of the Association Of Event Venues in September 2008, will continue to work closely with Arsenal’s catering partners, Delaware North Companies to continue to develop and deliver first-class meetings and events offerings, ensuring customer satisfaction.
