Highbury Square, the residential development of the Club’s old Highbury Stadium, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Special Jury Award’ at MIPIM, which is the annual property world equivalent of the Oscars.
The MIPIM ‘Special Jury Award’, which was presented at a glittering prize-giving ceremony in Cannes, south of France, was voted by a panel of property industry experts, and rewards the Highbury Square project team’s tireless work.
The award entry cited how successful the project has been in creating a positive legacy from a much-loved but obsolescent stadium, and highlighted the retention of architectural features and its sustainability credentials.
Arsenal Director Ken Friar said: “I understand that the Special Jury Award is the most prestigious of the MIPIM awards. This award is a great testament to our entire Highbury Square project team, who have all been fantastic throughout the planning and construction process. I must also take this opportunity to thank both Islington Council and English Heritage for their cooperation during the redevelopment of Highbury. Over 90% of the apartments at Highbury Square are already pre-sold and we are all looking forward to seeing the project completed in the summer.”
