Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Russell Bodycomb as its new Head of Hospitality with immediate effect.
Bodycomb will take charge of the extensive range of Matchday Hospitality, Meeting and Events facilities available at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
Russell has vast experience in the hospitality industry spanning over 20 years. Following a five year apprenticeship with Trusthouse Forte, Bodycomb worked at both Kempton and Sandown Park racecourses on high profile events from 1986 to 1991.
Russell then moved on to work within the hotel industry where he has successfully managed the Meetings and Events business for leading hotels including Thistle and Guoman Hotels chain, where he achieved an annual year on year growth of 10% across a six year period. Immediately prior to joining Arsenal, Bodycomb was the General Manager at the famous New Connaught Rooms based in Covent Garden.
The 60,000 seat state-of-the-art Emirates Stadium has two premium hospitality levels which provide over 7,000 supporters with access to a range of bars and restaurants on a matchday. The facilities are utilised on non matchday days for corporate and private events for up to 2,000 in a single suite. Emirates Stadium Events has established a reputation for delivering successful events and Russell’s appointment will have a crucial part in upholding this reputation.
Adrian Ford, Arsenal Commercial Director said: “We are confident that Russell’s experience and track record of success within both the hospitality, meeting and events industry will aid us with continuing to build the reputation of Emirates Stadium as one of the leading venues in the UK for both Matchday Hospitality and Meetings and Events.”
Since opening in July 2006, Emirates Stadium has won many awards for its construction process, regeneration and its Meetings and Events offering, including: 2007 ‘Visit London’ – Business Venue of The Year and 2008 ‘Meet England’ – Business Tourism Gold Award.
Russell Bodycomb said: “I’m delighted to be joining Arsenal as Head of Hospitality. Emirates Stadium is an iconic venue and offers a unique experience to event organisers and their clients. The stadium is still very new and has a very different proposition from the perceptions some clients may have of stadia, as it offers world class catering and flexible space to match the most demanding of events.
“I’m really looking forward to growing the events sector at Arsenal whilst continuing to ensure that the matchday hospitality exceeds the expectations of our clients. This is a tremendously exciting and a great new challenge for me.”
Russell’s main role will be to manage the sales and operations processes to drive both matchday and non-matchday events. He will work close with Arsenal’s catering partners, Delaware North Companies to continue to develop and deliver first-class hospitality and events offerings, ensuring customer satisfaction.
