Arsenalisation at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal cores pay homage to Bastin

The daughter and grand daughter of legendary Arsenal forward Cliff Bastin were invited by the Club to Emirates Stadium for this season's home match with Birmingham City.

After enjoying the game from the Director's Box, Barbara Lambert and her daughter Paula had the chance to admire Bastin's presence on the first of Emirates Stadium's eight cores - giant panels of artwork that now surround the ground, paying homage to past Club Legends.

They were photographed in front of the image, which shows Bastin in illustrious company, arm in arm with past Club Captain and defender Tony Adams and next to current Barcelona star striker Thierry Henry and 70s midfield maestro Liam Brady.

Barbara Lambert said: "the new picture of dad looks wonderful. As a family we are very proud. The Club treated us so well, I will never forget the day seeing all the images of the Club including dad within the stadium and being able to walk down the tunnel and see the pitch. Mum would have loved to have come, but at 94 it would have been a bit too much. But she has been thrilled to see the pictures of dad on the stadium."

The cores are the keystone of the Club's Arsenalisation project, which is responsible for turning Emirates Stadium into a very visible stronghold of all things Arsenal.
