Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce the launch of The Arsenal Foundation in the Club’s 125th anniversary season.
The Arsenal Foundation will be a grant making charity which will largely focus on work to motivate and inspire young people - often through education and sport - to help them reach their best potential. The diverse work of Arsenal in the Community and the Club’s global partnership with Save the Children will be supported by the Foundation to reach even more young people locally and across the globe.
The Club has a long history of helping others through charitable donations, partnerships and using the power of the Arsenal name to positively engage its community in a meaningful way.
Arsenal Chief Executive and Foundation trustee, Ivan Gazidis said: “In the Club’s 125th year, we’re very proud to launch The Arsenal Foundation to continue Arsenal’s tradition of reaching out to its community and helping others. The charity will be a lasting legacy for future generations of the Arsenal family, formed in a special year for this Club.
We hope that our fans, players, staff and the whole Arsenal community will embrace the cause and play a part in helping others through the work of the Foundation.”
The launch will be marked at Arsenal’s flagship fundraising event, the Arsenal Charity Ball, on May 3, 2012, which sees the Arsenal manager and first team come together with guests to raise funds for and celebrate Arsenal's charitable work.
Arsenal’s existing grant-making body, the Arsenal Charitable Trust, will transition its work to The Arsenal Foundation.
Since its formation in 1991, the Trust has raised more than £2 million for good causes. Each year the charity distributed small amounts to worthy causes with local hospitals, disability groups, charities for young children and young people featuring prominently among the donations. The Foundation will build on this work and donate to causes where a significant difference can be made- particularly to disadvantaged young people.Copyright 2015 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
