Arsenal Football Club presented Islington Law Centre with a grant of £15,000 on Tuesday, October 7 to help modernise the centre’s reception area and extend the centre’s much-used services.

The money is part of The Arsenal Section 106 Community Benefit Fund, which was a one-off funding round which ran between the end of 2007 and early 2008, and represents one of the many community benefits which has been created as a direct result of Arsenal’s move to Emirates Stadium.

The centre is now the only charitable legal advice provider in the Borough with a reception open to the public.  It sees hundreds of people come through the doors every week in urgent need of help so the money will help to improve the front line of its services.

Ken Friar, Director of Arsenal Football Club added: “We’re delighted to see the continued regenerative benefits of the Emirates Stadium project contributing to the local area. Arsenal wishes Islington Law Centre every success for the Open Day and for the continued services they provide.”

Ruth Hayes of Islington Law Centre said: "We’re delighted to be awarded this grant. We are now the only advice centre in the Borough with a reception area open to the public 5 days a week, so we are really keen to tell people what we do and how our services will be improved.”

The priorities for Arsenal’s Section 106 Community Benefit funding were established through close consultation with the community.  Funding was allocated to 21 groups all ranging in size - some from very small tenants and residents’ associations to schools and more established voluntary and community groups.
