On Saturday, March 31, Arsenal Football Club’s annual 10-lap fun run, ‘Be a Gunner. Be a Runner,’ will return to Emirates Stadium in support of the Club’s official global charity partner, Save the Children.
The event, now in its fourth year, continues to go from strength to strength – last year’s event had more than 600 entrants and raised £60,000 for charity – but we need your support to help the 2012 event go global.
Feedback from previous events has shown that a number of international fans would like the chance to get involved, so with the help of the Arsenal Supporters Clubs network, we wouldd like to give our worldwide fan base that opportunity.
‘Be a Gunner. Be a Runner’ is 10 laps of Emirates Stadium, or a total distance of 6.4 kilometers. We are therefore looking for Arsenal fans overseas to set up and run their own 6.4km challenge on Saturday, March 31, either individually or in groups. It could be in a park, on a beach or even around another football stadium!
If you would like to take part as an individual or a group of runners, please e-mail your details to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know where you are and your proposed 6.4km race route!
We will then send you an official race number to wear with pride on the day so you can join in with the fun! To be in with a chance of receiving a very special prize from the Club, just send through either a photo or video of yourselves in action at your chosen location no later than Friday, April 6. The more unusual and far-flung the better! We will feature some of the best images on Arsenal.com in a special gallery following the event.
Any Arsenal fan in the world is eligible to take part but you can get in touch with your local Supporters’ Club (a full list can be found at www.arsenal.com/supportersclubs) to see if there are any organised teams of local running Gunners near you!
Speaking about the event, Arsenal midfielder Alex Song said: “Be a Gunner. Be a Runner’ is always a great event that seems to get bigger and better every year! Myself and the other players have been lucky enough to see some of the incredible work that Save the Children does, so by signing up for the run you will be helping to make a real difference to the lives of many young people.”
‘Be a Gunner. Be a Runner’ is in aid of Arsenal’s global charity partner, Save the Children, who work in more than 120 countries worldwide. All money raised through the partnership will be used to support the charity on a range of education projects in the UK and overseas, helping the poorest children get a better start in life and giving them the chance to grow and fulfil their potential.Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
