You can see a new generation of Arsenal stars at Emirates Stadium next week as the Gunners' Under-21s play host to Bolton Wanderers (Monday, August 20, kick-off 7pm) and Blackburn Rovers (Saturday, August 25, kick-off 2pm).
The games will be Arsenal’s first in the newly formatted reserve league - the Barclays Under-21 Premier League - and members have access to specially-priced tickets at £3 adults/£1 concessions.
In the competition's initial group stage, Arsenal will also play against Everton, Norwich, Reading, West Brom and West Ham in 'Group 1', with future home matches played between Barnet’s Underhill Stadium and the Arsenal Training Ground.
Teams from all three groups will then be placed into new pools in January based on their performance, with a knockout stage and a national final to follow.
The new league, which sees a new focus on youth with teams limited to fielding a maximum of three outfield players over the age of 21 and one over-age goalkeeper, marks the start of an exciting season for Terry Burton’s youngsters, who are also taking part the Champions League-style Under-19s NextGen Series for the first time.
The Gunners, one of 24 teams from across Europe to compete in the elite youth competition, have been drawn in a group with Marseille, Olympiacos and Athletic Bilbao. Burton’s team kick off their campaign against Marseille on Wednesday, August 29 at Underhill Stadium.Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
