Pre-Match Report

U-23s: Arsenal v Man United - Preview

THE STORY SO FAR

Our under-23s conclude their Premier League 2 campaign against Manchester United at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.

Steve Gatting’s side have already secured a fourth-placed finish, trailing eight points behind Liverpool and sat just two points ahead of Chelsea.

The Blues have fulfilled their fixtures already, meaning we can finish no lower than fourth.

From the 21 games so far this season, we have won 10 times, drawn twice and lost on nine occasions.

THE OPPOSITION

Manchester United arrive at Emirates Stadium having won just five of their 20 fixtures so far this season.

Their results mean they sit in 10th place - just three points above rock-bottom Reading.

The Red Devils can finish no lower than 10th, but could finish as high as sixth if they can win both of their closing fixtures.

ONE TO WATCH

Eddie Nketiah could lead our attack in tonight’s PL2 finale.

The 18-year-old forward has scored 22 times in 32 appearances in all competitions this season.

Of those 22 goals, five have come in 12 games at PL level.

LAST TIME WE MET

The Red Devils took all three points when we met at Leigh Sports Village on October 24.

RoShaun Williams’ close range finish in just the eighth minute of the game proved to be enough for United.

Hugo Keto made a string of fine saves to keep the score at 1-0, before Ismael Bennacer, Marcus McGuane and Nketiah were all denied by Sam Johnstone in the late stages.
