SUMMARY

Arsenal Ladies brought the curtain down on their WSL campaign with a stunning 5-3 win over Liverpool.

The Gunners slipped behind when Satara Murray let fly with a strike that drifted into the top corner.

A quickfire double from Dan Carter turned the game on its head, before Jordan Nobbs extended the visitors' lead with an effort that cannoned in off the post.

Shanice van de Sanden pulled one back for Liverpool, but Chloe Kelly’s 75th-minute strike restored the two-goal lead.

Asisat Oshoala made it 5-2 in added time with a goal against her former club, before Caroline Weir netted the final goal of a fine encounter.

SETTING THE SCENE

There were just two changes from the side that won 2-0 at home to Doncaster Belles last week.

Oshoala and Jodie Taylor both started, with Kelly and Katie McCabe dropping to the bench.

Nobbs continued alongside Fara Williams in the heart of midfield, while captain Alex Scott was part of an unchanged back four.

Sari van Veenendaal started in goal, with Emma Byrne among the substitutes.

FIRST HALF

The Gunners saw a lot of the ball in the opening stages and went close to opening the scoring when Taylor headed over.

Liverpool then delivered a sucker punch, with Murray giving the Reds the lead when her cross evaded Van Veenendaal to find its way into the net.

Within six minutes Pedro Martinez Losa’s side were level, with Carter scoring, before hitting the target once more to complete a dramatic turnaround.

SECOND HALF

There were to be no more goals until the 58th minute, with Nobbs getting on the scoresheet and triggering a run of four goals in a frantic final half-hour of the season.

Van de Sanden pulled one back just two minutes later, before substitute Kelly came off the bench to give Losa’s side some breathing space.

Oshoala then made the scoreline more emphatic when she added a fifth goal in injury time.

Weir hit back for the hosts almost immediately from the kick off, but it was a case of too little too late, as Arsenal took all three points.
