U-21: Arsenal v Blackburn - Preview

Crowley

 By Lloyd Webb

It does not matter to Dan Crowley if it is a new year - his aims remain exactly the same.

The teenager had a fine 2015, during which he went on tour with the first team to Singapore, captained Arsenal Under-18s in the FA Youth Cup and gained invaluable experience on loan at Barnsley. He featured 11 times for the Tykes and claimed his first senior goal against Everton in the League Cup, while also establishing himself as an England Under-19s regular.

The midfielder still has his sights firmly set on making his Arsenal debut, but remains keen on another temporary move in the coming months.

"Hopefully I will get my chance soon - I just have to see when the boss wants me"

“I want to go out on loan to get more experience,” Crowley told Arsenal.com. “I think it will benefit me in the future and will get me closer to the first team here at Arsenal.

“To be out on loan playing first-team football it is very different. It was a good experience - I learnt a lot about myself, a lot about the game and what it is like to be in a first-team environment.

“Hopefully I will get my chance soon - I just have to see when the boss wants me. I’m back at home with my friends and top players.”

Crowley is set to feature in Arsenal Under-21s’ first fixture of 2016 against on Tuesday lunchtime, and says the team must learn from their defeat to Aston Villa last time out.

“We will try to see why we lost,” he said. “[We need to see] what went wrong and see how we can improve and get a result against Blackburn. We want to go into every game looking for a win. It doesn’t matter to us if it is the first game of the year or the last.”
