WSL: Liverpool v Arsenal - Preview

Emma Mitchell

By Lloyd Webb

Emma Mitchell is a player with ambition. The defender recently put pen to paper on a new three-year deal and in doing so, outlined what she wants to achieve with Arsenal Ladies.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed success throughout her career, having won the league in Scotland and three trophies since making the move to north London.

As the Gunners prepare to face Liverpool in the Women’s Super League on Saturday, Mitchell is after all three points as Arsenal look to keep their title chances alive.

"Since Pedro has come there has started to be a bit more consistency. The performances are starting to come"

“I want to put us back up to where we belong, to try to win trophies every season and get back into the Champions League,” she told Arsenal.com. “Arsenal have got these standards and that is where we should be all the time.

“The first season I came here, we won two trophies and in the second season we won the FA Cup again.

“The second one was more difficult as we had a couple of new managers but since Pedro has come there has started to be a bit more consistency. The performances are starting to come.”

Mitchell has been an ever-present this season and is “delighted" to have extended her stay at Arsenal.

“I have been here the last two years and really enjoyed myself, so to get offered a new three-year contract... I’m really chuffed,” she said.
