WSL: Arsenal Ladies v Chelsea - Preview

Pedro Martinez Losa

By Lloyd Webb

Over the past four months, Arsenal Ladies have made tangible progress - and nowhere can this be better highlighted than in their results against Chelsea.

Having been knocked out of the FA Cup by their London rivals in April, the Gunners have since drawn with the Blues in the WSL before beating them 2-0 last weekend in the Continental Cup.

The teams lock horns once more on Sunday at Meadow Park in a game that could have a major impact on the title race, and Pedro Martinez Losa is confident his side have got what it takes to secure another landmark result.

"We work to make our fans proud of the team, to make them happy and to make them have good days"

“The team has progressed in their mentality, confidence and the style we want them to play,” Losa told Arsenal.com.

“There’s no progression in life or in football, you go up, you go down a little and then you go even higher. That’s what we want to achieve and I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen.

“We are growing, which is the most important thing for us. Our project is a strong one and it is going in the right direction for the future. The club understands that and the players do as well.”

Arsenal lie in third place in the WSL and a win on Sunday would see them leapfrog Chelsea with three games remaining.

“We work to make our fans proud of the team, to make them happy, to make them have good days, to make them believe in the team and that’s been our main objective since the start of the season,” Losa said.

“Last season the team was not great at home. We just won one game at home but now our record is better.”
