Arsenal are well placed to reach the next round of the Women's Champions League after a comfortable 3-0 win at Barcelona on Wednesday.

Jennifer Beattie, Jordan Nobbs and Katie Chapman scored as Laura Harvey's team - winners of this competition in 2007 - outplayed the Catalan side.

Playing at the Mini Estadi, in the shadow of the Camp Nou, Arsenal started on the back foot with Emma Byrne denying both Sonia and Marta Corredera.

But the visitors grew in stature and they took the lead in the 31st minute when Beattie headed home Kim Little's corner.

Ellen White twice went close before half time and Nobbs doubled Arsenal's lead 10 minutes after the restart with a long-range drive.

Chapman got the third in the 67th minute when Sullastres parried Steph Houghton's free kick and the captain converted the rebound.

Referee: Christine Baitinger (GER)
