Arsenal Under-18s

Merida (2), Gibbs

Ipswich Town Under-18s

A Fran Merida brace set Arsenal on their way to an eighth successive home win but it took a late strike from Kieran Gibbs to secure all three points against Ipswich Town.

Spaniard Merida netted on 25 and 44 minutes - his first academy goals since hitting three in his first three games - as Arsenal went in 2-1 ahead at the break. The points were not made safe, however, until Gibbs notched his third goal of the campaign with a minute to go.

The victory means Steve Bould's youngsters are still unbeaten this season and sit top of the Academy League.
