At Arsenal Ladies, the Under 9 Player Development Centre is the first part of a wider development programme for female players that meets the needs of young female footballers from 5 years old right through to elite open age football.

This pathway includes:

  • Arsenal Girls' U9 Player Development Centre (5 - 8)
  • Arsenal Girls' Centre of Excellence (U11,U13,U15,U17)
  • University of Hertfordshire Ladies First Team (18+)
  • Arsenal Ladies Reserves and First Team Squad (16+)

The Under 9 development programme for 5-8 year olds, enables very young female players to have fun and gain valuable experience before progressing to the Centre of Excellence trials for U11 year olds.

The purpose of the Arsenal Ladies Centres of Excellence is to produce excellent players and well balanced young people.

The purpose of the Arsenal Ladies Centres of Excellence, which is the next step after the U9 Development Centre, is to identify female players of outstanding ability and place them in a technical and educational programme that is designed to produce excellent players and well balanced young people.

The Under 9 Development Centre, the first step on the ladder, is staffed by fully qualified FA coaches who have attended the Football Association Safeguarding Children Workshop and hold valid enhanced Football Association Criminal Records Bureau Checks.

Sessions focuses on ball manipulation, balance, agility and co-ordination in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

There are two sessions per week that offer flexible attendance options and girls continue to play for their Grass Roots Clubs at weekends.

One session is indoors so in the event of poor weather the comfort and safety of young children can be assured.

There is a small charge for Development Centre sessions.
