on the game:
I thought we played really well in the first half. We could and should have been ahead by more. I said to the girls at half time that it was a bit of déjà vu from the Lincoln game. They scored and it made the game harder, when it didn’t need to be that way. I was disappointed again that we let the opposition back in and we’ve got to work out why we’re losing our momentum in the second half, because it’s happening too often now.

on trying to win the game before half time:
We wanted to win it as early as possible and score as many goals as we could because, although mathematically we couldn’t win the league today if Birmingham won, our goal difference is such that if we can push on then it makes it even harder for them to catch us.

on the importance of the third goal:
I’m really happy for Ellen because she’s had a tough couple of months on and off the pitch, and with injuries. For her to get back on the pitch and score at such a vital time was really pleasing for her.

on why Rachel Yankey was replaced at half time:
She got a bit of a knock in the England camp this week so we just wanted to give her 45 minutes and take her off. It was always the plan to get her off at half time. We’ve got a lot of games coming up so we’ve got to make sure everyone is ready to go and isn’t too tired.

on the focus moving to other competitions:
First things first, we’re focusing on Champions League because we’ve got the game [Barcelona] on Wednesday. But after that, we want to make sure that we win the league and win it in style. Our game against Doncaster is live on ESPN so we want to put on a good show for everybody. That gives us an added incentive to that game. For the next three days, the Champions League is our priority.
