Our FA Cup semi-final mascot!

During the Easter break, Junior Gunner Rory and his family were invited to attend an Arsenal Legends Tour of Emirates Stadium. Here, Rory was surprised with the news he had been selected to be our mascot for the Emirates FA Cup Semi Final match at Wembley Stadium!

Rory’s Grandad was the first to hear the news that Rory had been selected, at random from our pool of Junior Gunners, to be our mascot for the big match against Manchester City, Sunday April 23rd. With a little help from Rory’s Grandad, the rest of the family, and Arsenal Legend Charlie George, we devised a plan to surprise him with the news…

JG Rory and his younger brother were led to believe they were simply being treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of Emirates Stadium with Charlie George. Having explored the Directors Box, Changing Rooms, Players Tunnel and even Pitchside, the tour group settled in the Media Lounge, for an exclusive Q&A session with Charlie where the surprise was due to take place.

Of course, we couldn’t surprise a JG without Gunnersaurus! Gunner popped in on the Q&A session and helped Charlie to deliver the news! Rory was presented with all of his mascot gear; including tickets for some of his family to attend the match and see him in action, and a full Arsenal kit to wear whilst performing his duties. As our JG mascot, Rory will get the chance to escort the Arsenal team onto the pitch ahead of kick-off.

Tune into the video above to see the announcement and Rory’s reaction. We hope Rory and his family enjoy the experience!
