JGs enjoy a night to remember
The Carling Cup returned to Emirates Stadium on Tuesday as the team met Shrewsbury Town for a place in the Fourth Round. And to celebrate we invited lots of lucky Junior Gunners to join us behind the scenes and be part of the excitement.
With a buzz of anticipation gripping the stadium, the players were quick to feel the passion and support of our young fans as 10 specially-invited JGs cheered and shouted their names as they stepped off the team bus. This was then matched by the 12 members of our Junior Gunners Guard of Honour who waved the giant flags and cheered them onto the pitch before kick-off.
Gunnersaurus could also be seen winding up the crowd and building the atmosphere as we walked around the lower concourse before the match to meet fans and have his photograph taken with them.
With our JGs in fine voice it was always going to be a lively evening and this was helped by our six competition winners cheering and chanting from their seats within the Executive Box they had won for the evening. And all this before five further lucky competition winners were handed a big surprise when they heard their names read out over the loudspeaker and find that they had won a prize to go behind-the-scenes after the full-time whistle. The five winners were led by none other than our big green furry dinosaur on a special post-match tour to the hidden areas of the stadium where the players prepare, whilst also getting to step out of the tunnel to have their photo taken with Gunner at the side of the pitch.
Added to all this our Junior Gunners mascot even got to interview Arsène Wenger before kick-off to get his thoughts on the match ahead.
It's fair to say that all competition winners were given a night they will never forget and one they will be telling their friends about for many years to come!
With many more competitions exclusive to Junior Gunners still to come this season, there are lots more chances to win prizes just like these. Make sure you regularly check our website at www.arsenal.com/juniorgunners for the latest competitions and your chance to enter.
