Hey Junior Gunners!
How are you all?
I’ve been rushed off my feet again recently!
I went down to Borehamwood to watch the Arsenal Ladies take on Turbine Potsdam on November 1. The German team brought lots of fans with them so I went over to make sure they had some pictures to take home with them. The Ladies played really well and won 2-1, with Katie Chapman and Ellen White scoring to ensure they had the advantage going into the second leg of the tie.
The first team took on Manchester United on Saturday, November 3. We had a special Halloween-themed day at the Emirates Stadium where over 200 JGs and their parents came down for a spooky afternoon before watching the game. They all had a lot of fun but unfortunately we lost the game 2-1, with Santi scoring a lovely goal at the end.
On Tuesday, November 6, I had a nice evening in front of the television watching our game away at Schalke in the Champions League. We started really well, with Olivier and Theo giving us a two-goal lead. The game eventually finished as a 2-2 draw which was a good point and kept us on course to qualify to the next round.
Then, the next day, the Ladies made me really proud. They won the second leg of their last-16 game against Potsdam 4-3! Kelly Smith was the hero, scoring a hat-trick. We won the tie 6-4 on aggregate and are now through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League!
I was at a very special cocktail party for members of the Foundry and WM Club on November 8. Arsène Wenger was in attendance, along with former player Nigel Winterburn and TV star Alan Davies.
The Club supported Remembrance Day and it was fantastic to see so many servicemen and women at the game. We had a minute’s silence before the match started, in honour of those who have been killed in action. The game itself again got off to a great start, as Olivier and Lukas put us two goals ahead. Fulham fought back well though, and the final score was 3-3, with Olivier adding his second of the game.
That’s all for now.
